Nope and nope. The PS3 had a more successful launch at $100-200 more expensive. I really don't think a $50 difference will do much harm... personally I'm expecting 2 models for 399/449 which will do well regardless of what the competition do, provided that the launch stuff is good (third parties will be, first parties could add some real firepower).

Imagine you're a parent and had to buy a console for your kid, Would you choose the $499 one or the $399 one. That's what went wrong with the ps3's launch
