I think the price is mostly what the issue was. When the Vita was announced at $249.99, the same price the 3DS was, everyone was praising the portable, but a few months before the Vita was released Nintendo dropped the 3DS down to $169.99 and now no one wants it.

Most people will buy something because it's cheap over quality. How many people do you guys know who point out that there's a cheap 42"+HDTV and you happen to look at it and you see that it's an 60hz LCD with a less than reputable brand. The same thing with desktop PCs sold at Walmart. Anyone remember when Walmart was big on selling those really cheap emachines computers. That brand was a joke, but they sold extremely well.

I own both the Vita and the 3DS, and sure I'm a Playstation fanboy, but the quality of games released and published in the west by Sony's first party is in higher in both quantity and quality when compared to Nintendo's first party. Nintendo is getting more third party support, but most of the third party support it's getting is shovelware.

So first off, Sony should definitely lower the price of the Vita. Second. Secretly create their own "third party shovelware companies" Then have those companies' sole purchase to develop as good of a quality game as they can, with major time and budget constraints. Have them ripoff games like Nintedogs, Brain Training, etc. Which many shovelware developers have ripped off. Higher ups of these companies can keep secret to employees that Sony is involved, so these employees just think they're working for an entry level shovelware company. I think if it got out that Sony did do something like this, it'd hurt their reputation, but it's not a bad idea at all.
