Eh, I think shortage problems are a minor issue. There are undoubtedly some people who tried to buy a Wii U on Black Friday and couldn't find one, and then said **** it I'll buy an X-Box, but anyone who put their mind to it could have gotten a console by Christmas.
It doesn't need a pricedrop yet. What it needs is proof that the concept is a good one. I could definitely see the right software inspiring a whole family to gather around the living room TV with a Wii U gamepad, but that experience isn't there yet. Wii Fit U will be a start, but hopefully Nintendo has a true killer app to be debuted at E3.
