Software for the PS3 and 360 will still be supported for at least 2-3 years (the last games released and downgraded ports) after the new consoles come out. I don't see why there is a reason to complain over it. 7-8 year console cycle is the longest any console generation has stretched. Most of the time it is about 4-6 years max. PS2 still had games released for it up until about 2008-2009.
