I didn't choose to be straight any more than I chose to be a male, short and white.
Choice has absolutely no aspect over sexuality and attraction. If it did, we'd all choose the easiest means of finding a mate with the least amount of social disapproval. Better stated, we choose the aspects that generate the least amount of stress.
Nobody thinks, "I want to make my life a living hell so I'm going to be attracted to 1,000 lb, dog faced, Harlequin suffers of the same sex." Sexual attraction is instinctual.
