Marriage is designed to provide the best possible situation for procreating, both from a legal perspective and a tax perspective. I am a proponent of civil unions. Give homosexual couples the legal rights they need without changing the basic definition of marriage, sounds like a win-win for everybody! Also, what's there to stop a homosexual couple from having a ceremony to express their commitment? Nothing, they can still do that, and have similar legal rights to a married couple in this scenario.
