I've been asking myself this question. I'm anxiously awaiting what they present. With most 3rd party (including Insomniac now) going multiplat they need to show something very strong. I really don't know what it is. An amazing new IP would potentially do the trick but I don't have a lot of confidence that they can do this. A strong product at a reasonable price could make me consider. I think, right now, the best chance Sony has will come down to failure from its competitors. If WiiU doesn't get multiplats and NExtBox is too expenisve or has a costly subscription model, then all Sony needs to do is be good and be affordable and they will get my cash.
