OP. I hope you're right. I fear you're wrong.

Ideal for sony would be to release the PS4 only once it has 10X the power of the last gen. Releasing a console just 2-4 times as powerful might appear indistinguishable to the 'layperson' consumer - thus go unnoticed. In that event, it would be lacking the next-gen buzz or vibe that everyone gets so excited about.
