You dont have HD do you? I assure you. Split screen dont hurt what you see on HD. :)
It's more than just a resolution problem ...
When you add a viewport you save a little on scene-graph management but it ends up (over-all) taking much more memory, CPU and GPU processing power. I'm not too sure the PS3/XBox 360 has the processing power to handle much of a game with 16 viewports that are active.
The other problem is screen real-estate. If you have a 32 inch TV you will have (approximately) 16 8-inch screens to use for split-screen multiplayer; on a TV that size (and with that many people in the room) everyone is probably going to be 8-10 feet away from their screen. There is just too little screen to see what is happening.
My point is. The PS3 can do split screen 10x better than the Wii. You just said power matters. You handed it to the PS3. :)
why are you always eager to prove that ps3 is more powerful than the wii?
it is, i can tell u that and i'm no expert in that area. it seems you have some doubts, kwaad. don't have it... ps3 is more powerful than wii and than 360. ok?
now, does that means its better? depends on what you like and what you want from a console.
and another question, and i think its the most important, is: is it worth the money? better: is any console worth 600€?
this is the question all the ps2 buyers are facing now and are having doubts.
