The important thing is that all these experimental or actually sold devices are held together by the same environment, Android, so just like what happened with the traditional x86+DOS/Windows PC, the market can be left free to naturally evolve and decide which devices will succeed, while the unity of the environment is kept. And in the end, even the least successful ones will have the Android library available, this could be an important selling point to exploit also in marketing: just like in the PC market, as long as the driver support is present, you don't run a risk even choosing an uncommon device.
