You build shops and entice adventurers to quest in the game world around your town. The adventurers have various JRPG classes, and do battle in an FFXII-type way outside of down. Its just $1.99 right now via Google Play. I'm about 4-5hrs into my first playthrough, and Im about 1/3rd of the way through the game. For the price, its a steal.

Got all kariosoft games for iOS (since it's what i've got). and they are basicly all good :)
only ones that are so-so imo are: Oh! Edo Towns & Venture towns.
Personal recommendations:
Pocket League Story - Manage a football team (real footbal, none of that american crap ;) )
Grand Prix Story - Manage a racing team, good replay value :)
Game Dev Story - the game that started it all, manage a game company :) fun for 3-4 runthroughs.
all of these games cost like 4-5$ easy worth the money if you travel and have time to kill.
