For crying out loud Sony can't put out the trash without rampant speculation. Folks this is a trash day for Sony. This is the event where things go that are barely worth noting, but never the less need to be announced. This is where they are going to lay out their plans for the tail end of their current console, and move forward their future plans for the Vita, or the plans for its tail end. Whichever way you lean it doesn't really matter.
The fact that it is in February. In a small media market. Dedicated to retailers, and it explicitly states its purpose. Should be all that you need to draw this conclusion. Sony isn't going to stealth announce a product that is going to need the absolute maximum amount of hype that it can get in the middle of fucking nowhere. Both Microsoft and Nintendo do the exact same thing. They each have events where they put out their trash.
About the best you can reasonably expect to come out of this event. Is Sony announcing a retail price change for the Vita, and you know what it makes sense to do that at a retailer venue.
