Honestly, I can't see Sony following through with this patent unless one or more of its competitors join in, but from what I've read, I think that Microsoft is also potentially aiming to cut down on used sales. As a PC and console gamer, much of my library has shifted towards digital (I rarely trade-in or buy used games), so this wouldn't really affect me, but I can see how Gamestop or GameFly would be hit dramatically by this.
