I hope not...Can't stand blu ray films (unless it's animation). I don't see the attraction of removing a film's texture and making it look like a cheap daytime soap opera.
I'm guessing the hard drive will be huge enough to allow for the option of direct downloading more than just a few games/movies so physical discs will be less of an option for me.

Out of all arguments against blu-ray this is the most misinformed I've ever read, bravo.

He probably owns an LCD or LED

No, duh everyone that post here does so by using a LCD or LED screen.  Anyway plasma is way overrated and its pretty much a dying technology since everybody is moving away from it.

I can see why you'd say a technology that is cheaper and generally gives you a better picture quality is over rated.

The truth is that its still dying Panasonic is the only big player left when it comes to plasma televisions and they are in deep financial trouble if it was such a great product they would make money.  Also how exactly does it offer better picture quality when all the next gen sets that offer better then 1080p are not based on plasma technology.

I'm not going to address the first part of your statement, but in regards to the second part plasma offers darker blacks, and whiters whites, and a higher refresh rate. So when you're watching a movie it will look like the film makers intended instead of a "soap opera" with un realistic colors. Sure you can get around the soap opera effect with lcd/led, but than the refresh rate is shit, and you'll be looking at a lot of motion blur with unrealistic colors. Either way the colors are shit. That is of course unless you plan on spending 3000+ for a top notch LED in which case sure you can find a slightly better picture quality than a plasma, or OLED which will set you back quite a bit as well but blows plasma/led/lcd out of the water. I've been hearing "plasma is a dead technolocy" for the past 8 years and yet they it's still around.

I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.
