It won't pass it, it will come close but it will not pass. Thats my prediction. Microsoft will pull something out of their sleeves i'm sure. They're not going to just hand over the sales lead to Sony.

And what will that be?  Remember, MS already dropped the 360's price by $50 for 3 months in its best region.  It had a $99 360 plan at retailers.  It had a $149 SKU for Black Friday week.  Many retailers are still selling the $199 SKU for $179.  It had the a new game in its biggest exclusive franchise.  And with all that, the 360 still ended the year being much lower YOY than the PS3.  As opposed to the PS3, which only had the Super Slim, without a price cut (the entry price acctually went up $20 in America).  The only thing MS could to maybe slow/stop, but definitely not reverse, this trend is to start selling 360s for $49, and with Kinect for $99,

The price cut and redesigned Super Slim helped spur PS3 sales. But the 360 still dominated the PS3 throughout the holiday season. Microsoft needs to do the same thing, redesign the Xbox 360, make it even slimmer, possibly throw in a blu ray player, Kinect should be bundled with all SKUs and they should make a permanent price drop. There's plenty they could do, it's not over until the fat lady sings bud.

There was no price cut this year for the PS3, in fact, like I stated above, it got a $20 price increase in America.  And the 360 didn't dominate the PS3 this holiday season, it slightly outsold it, which is why the PS3 will have a gap 1.3M+ over the 360 for the whole year.  And with the release of one 1st party exclusive next year, its obvious that MS is getting ready for next gen and will probably not push the 360 like you are hoping.  And yes, the 360 will have a price cut next year, but so will the PS3, which will have more of an affect than the 360 one.

@ Psyberius

You may want to look at the numbers, again.  The PS3 is only behind by 2M, not 3M.  And for the past 3 months, the 360 has only won 6 out of 13 weeks, and not by a large margin, hence the huge lead the PS3 has for the entire year.
