Actually, there are necessary protiens, fatty acids, and vitamins that we get from meat naturally (some of which are particularly important for developing children). This is why vegetarians and vegans need to take supplements to stay healthy. By the same token, there are many vitamins and minerals we can only get from vegetables, which is why people who eat too much meat (or too much of one kind of meat) & not enough veggies are not healthy either. We're omnivores, so our system requires a balanced diet to be healthy.

But since the supplements exist, we technically don't need the meat.


Due to the way those supplements are made, they are not very effective unless you eat the real thing too, they are mostly for back up and not a replacement. Drinking a protein shake doesn't do shit unless you also intake a good amount of meat, and you have to mix up the meat as well so you can intake different species and types of animal fat(just like veggies), supplemtents does exactly what it's made to do which is to help but can't replace the real thing.
