As an Animal Scientist I find this topic to be bewildering. Humans are the only species to decline willingly their place in the food chain. I have "harvested" many animals for food and find that humans (at least in the US) are the only ones who do it in the most humane ways possible. Not only is it good for the animal, but also helps with the meat's quality.
Proteins in animal fat has been proven to be a key part of young people's brain development which is necessary for healty development.
