Well, if you look at previous gen jumps, not really:

XBOX to 360 - 64MB to 512MB - 8x in 4 years

PS2 to PS3 - 32+4MB to 512 MB - 14x in 6 years

If they launch at the end of 2013. that will be 8 full years for 360 and 7 for PS3 - I'd say 8GB is about right.
