Not Sony lol!

I'd say make sure that it focuses on games first multimedia 2nd.

Microsofts obstacle is Sony. They are sitting on half of the marketshare growth Sony created in the industry. They know that Sony wants it back....so that should a given.

Sure there is some competition but MS would do fine in te US regardless of what Sony does just like how it's vice versa in Japan. I think they can easily co-exist witout being a huge obstacle to each other imo

You say this with the highest confidence when both consoles share 90% of their games in the same library. Microsoft figured out that was the way to cut Sonys marketshare. From that point on it comes down to exclusives, sometimes all it really comes down to is price and offerings. Sony will be losing Japanese support if they keep supporting the west in a one sided fashion. Microsoft makes games that are western centric, so they have no issue, but Sony does because the east will respond with their lack of dollars from feeling alienated by Sony.

I think Sony and MS would always have a big dedicated fanbase unless they REALLY mess up. Price is always important, charge too much and it will drive away consumers, Exclusives are important but they aren't as big of a deal like they used it be. I honestly think MS needs to make online multiplayer free for everyone. Sony/Nintendo/Steam all have free gaming services and they're only getting closer and closer to XBL gold. That's just my 2 cents, and for Sony catering to the western crowd sure they might not be happy about that but there will always be dozens of niche devs making jrpgs exclusive to playstation to supply their needs.
