I spent more money because I also needed something to do word processing on that ideally wouldn't die in 18 months aka most laptops, plus can also play games.
The advantage is that I get to play games which are cheaper, don't look like shit and run a lot faster & access to a whole world of mods. What I don't get are a bunch of reworked exclusives that are identical to their predecessors and laughably priced, or watered down versions of games e.g. Battlefield 3.
I never boasted about upgrading my PC.....Someones clearly jelly xD Also you clearly don't know the price of RAM as a decent set is about the same as a wireless pad....
Either way if the next consoles focus on being small and efficient over being power hungry beasts, gaming will be far superior on the PC then on the consoles. Just take a look at BF3, PS2, or even just DX11.

Ok, ok I'm going to step in for a moment. I'm also a PC gamer and i will admit that I get highly annoyed with graphic article or threads acting like a console game is superior and completely excluding PC games. However I will not lie about this, I enjoy console gaming more. Dont get me wrong I buy most 3rd party games like Battlefield and Far Cry for PC but beyond that consoles have the games I like the most. Halo, Gears, Unchartes, Metal Gear, Forza, Fable, Killzone, Mario, Donkey Kong, Zelda, etc etc. PC is beautiful but that doesn't mean much unless I like the games too. Im not a big mmo or rts guy either. I also prefer multiplayer on consoles more because I prefer controllers rather than using a keyboard/mouse.
I actually just bought Far Cry 3 for PC running on ultra high settings and I'm blown away by them. These type of games Ill choose PC but until PC gets all the games I like most I will not sit here and say PC is the best gaming platform. It has it's pros and cons just like every single console.

That's fair enough however the issue is that what this generation has shown is that the most money is in multiplatform games as you can reach a wider market that way. If you take the craptastic Dead Island, it still sold well over 2 million copies even though it was terrible. If it had been released on just one platform, the sales most likely wouldn't have been nearly as high. Therefore I do wonder, with that and the technical limitations of the consoles, if exclusives will become a much smaller entity, or if more will emerge on the PC. If we consider that the first UE4 games is a PC exclusive, that's promising, as well as knowing that UE4 required the gtx680 (or there abouts) to run - the kind of power a console won't be able to have.

Yeah but see we are looking at how much something sold. That doesn't tell us how much money that game made. You need a company to to publish your games and then they may even provide the tools for you to develope that game. My guess would be that Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo pay developers more money than what EA/Activision/Ubisoft pays their developers. Microsoft/Nintendo.Sony also advertises their games better than other publishers. I'm sure their is plenty of perks working under one of the big three or else comppanies wouldn't do it. And when thrd party games go exclusive, you know they got paid a lot up front. I know Halo, Gears, Forza, Gran Turismo, Mario, Zelda, and tons more has made a lot of money.
