You do realize that you can (kind of) turn Metro off, right? I have done that and I'm always in the desktop mode. I even use a program called Classic Shell and I have the Start (Windows Pearl from Win7) on the bottom left corner of my laptop screen. So really, it is not a big deal. I'd say my computer runs much better on Win8. Even my online game runs better.

Not really, since I've only been able to use it in its original state. So it throws you back and forth to metro. Maybe I shouldn't be too worried about taking advantage of any towers I find that come with Windows 8. I'm still not a fan of Microsoft looking to close their system. If I wasn't I would just get a Mac, and if Microsoft wants to go that route that's probably what I will do as much as that thought upsets me, because I can't stay behind and use old windows OS forever. Though if Windows 7 stays relevant for a while I can do that and if the market prefers 7 over 8 it might redirect Microsoft.
I need to stop using XP at least.

You can still buy programs for windows 8 as normal, just not for the metro interface(that is a closed sytem) so if you dont like the metro interface anyways than its no different from 7 except its faster. I really dont see the need for compliants. if anyone really doesn't like metro interface than they can get rid of it. if they dont like a closed sytem they dont have to use that part. its faster than 7 too.
