Aside from Nintendo, where mascots are expected to re appear, mascots don't matter anymore. With the Playstation brand, people want to play new and exciting IP's. Look at the Last of Us, there is a lot of buzz surrounding that game. Sony doesn't need to have a Mario, and they shouldn't try that, they should just keep establishing new, and exciting titles.
