I'm one of those people who thinks the PS4 shouldn't come out next year. I don't see how it would benefit Sony to once again start selling expensive hardware with little software to offset those losses when they could just keep selling games to the 70 million+ people who already own PS3s. It's not like they're in danger of losing third party support over it -- you can bet that the PS3 will get the yearly EA Sports & Call of Duty games for years to come. Sony could easily launch the PS4 in 2014 and not lose any sleep over it.
Will they do that? Probably not. They'll push PS4 out in 2013, either selling it for too steep a price or losing stupid amounts of money on each unit sold... or both. They won't have any must-have software ready for it, and it won't be able to compete with Wii U or Nextbox, especially Wii U in Japan and Nextbox in America. It will cement itself early on as the ho-hum console of the next generation. This is what I forsee happening if PS4 is released next year, anyway.
