Actually, Scandinavia = Sweden, Denmark, Norway

Just a heads up ;)

Actually no; Sweden Norway and Finland :p Denmark don't have any mountains and Scandinavia is named after the mountain range that goes through Sweden, Norway and Finland ^^ Just a heads up ;)

I've always been told that Scandinavian countries are Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and even Iceland.

Well, those are the Nordic countries. Whoever told you that, is wrong.

The Dutch term looks to be 'Noordse landen', but I've never ever heard that one. I doesn't matter much anyway because the Scandinavian empires contained Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Faroer, Svalbard. Now take Russia. We say it´s in Europe, but more than half the country Syberia lies in Asia.

Also Denmark isn´t on the Scandinavian peninsula if using another definition.
