Profit, unlike Apple, comes from the tie-in to their other products: search, the store, Windows 8, Win8 tablets. And Win8 is selling less than Win7 last year despite being a new OS, so it's already failed at promoting Windows.

Go and look at MS's profit for the relevant division. It's not high.
