Weapons
Halo: CE - Pistol
By far the best weapon in any Halo game. Three headshots is all it takes to kill an enemy spartan. Effective at all ranges.
Halo 2 - Battle Rifle
The best Battle Rifle in any Halo game. It shoots both faster and more accurately than any other.
Halo 3 - Battle Rifle
While inferior to its Halo 2 version, it is still the best all-around weapon you can find. Four perfect bursts is all it takes at close- and mid-range to kill an opponent.
Halo 3: ODST - Covenant Carbine
The scope might not reach as far as the pistol's in this game, but you will pretty much never find a point where the bullets won't reach. And they are far stronger than pistol bullets, even though the magazine is bigger.
Halo: Reach - DMR
Excellent scope, reaching almost as far as that of a Sniper Rifle. Needle Rifle might shoot faster, but it also takes many more bullets and the scope is vastly inferior.
Halo 4 - Light Rifle
While the bullets are actually weaker than that of a DMR and a Battle Rifle burst in this game when you are not aiming down your scope, it still takes an equal amount of triggers (5) to take a fully shielded enemy out. Its strongest side though is at long range where its scope reaches further away than any other rifle, and all it takes is four bullets to the head to get a kill; all other long range weapons (except Snipers) require at least 5 at all ranges.
And yes, I purposefully avoided all power weapons.
Vehicles
Halo: CE - Warthog
Its gun is far strongerand more accurate than any other found in the game. All this accompanied with its superior speed. Scorpions might have a very powerful gun and turret, but both of them are extremely inaccurate. Not to mention that just a few turret bullets to the shell is all it takes to take a scorpion driver out.
Halo 2 - Gauss Warthog
Excellent speed, acceleration, accuracy and firepower at all ranges. Though the scorpion has a much more accurate main gun and turret this time around, it is no match for a rocket launcher and people bording it due to its incredibly slow speed. Ghosts, Banshees and Spectrees are no match for a Gauss Warthog. The Scorpion might win easily in a duel, but overall it has less advantages.
Halo 3/ODST - Scorpion tank
This time the tank is perfect. Still extremely accurate, much faster than the Halo 2 tank and there is a separate seat for the turret user, allowing the tank to shoot in two different directions at the same time.
Halo 4 - Mantis
While being more vulerable to rockets and lasers than the Scorpion tank, it is also more agile. Stomping effectively takes out enemies trying to board it, and its recharging shields makes it reliable until the second it is destroyed, unlike all other vehicles who are at constant danger once they are heavily damaged.
Armour abilities
Halo: Reach - Armour lock
An armour ability that was so powerful that it was even removed in the following release. If you ever get hit by a plasma grenade, or risk getting hit by an enemy with a rocket launcher, just use this ability and chances are you will survive and kill the attacker in the process. Not to mention how it kills enemies trying to roadkill you.
Halo 4 - Thruster pack
This allows you to easily escape from losing a firefight, and to effectively use your close range weapons even if your targets are far away.
