360 now ~50 Milion Over Original Xbox, SW almost 500m Over.

As for these percentage growth figures, I mean if you fail once at something, then succeed, the difference is obviously going to be much greater. While highlighting the success of the 360, this thread also puts a spotlight on the Xbox and just how poor it's sales were.

The feat is not just that they exceeded the original Xbox, it's that they exceeded it by so much. You talk as if this was expected and is no big deal. No one expected MS to put this much of a stamp on this generation. Also, where did MS fail with the 1st Xbox? It sold over 20,000,000 units and wasn't even the last place console last generation. You could say that compared to the PS2 they failed but do you honestly think MS planned on going toe to toe and toppling Sony with one console? Their goal was to replace the Playstation brand as the cool brand and to be the device used in homes for entertainment once people shifted away from the PC. They're making great strides on both of those goals but neither are something they were going to accomplish in one generation.

Nintendo did better this generation. That doesn't take away from the success MS had though.
