Focus on exploring 2-3 different planets with more regions and interconnectivity than previous entries. I should never be forced to use my ship to fly to a different area on the same planet. There should be at least two land-based entrances/exits.

Keep beam stacking. Beams are fine just being glorified keys. For combat, other element-based attacks (like ice missiles) are a suitable substitute.
Many revisions given to the Grapple Beam, Spider Ball, and Screw Attack abilities.
Quit the chatter. Only a few key characters should have speaking roles (a la Metroid Prime 2), and none of them are Samus.


Soo, you basically are talking about a mix of Metroid Prime 1 and Super Metroid? Great Idea, I really would like to see this happen :D
