But 13 was not meant to have a sequel. It was not a planned release. They simply released it to "make up" for 13. They said this themselves.

Personally what i think happend is that SE saw a nice oppportunity to cash in with 13-2, and lighting returns, all the while making as if they doing it for the fans. Since its the same story/characters/universe (kinda) it would be much easier for them to create sequels of 13. This didnt even work out for them because 13-2 did not sell well.

They really should have just moved pass 13 as well as 14, except them for the games they are and concentrate on going forward. They should have focused on versus 13 after 13. If they needed to make it multiplatform then they should have done that (although they might have made a deal with Sony). But again the majority of FF sales is coming from PS3 so this shouldnt have been a major factor.

Versus 13 is seen, by most fans, as a completely different game (almost like another main FF game) and it would have at the time sold pretty well had it released earlier. Now the hype is gone for versus...the last three FF games have been mediocre with a lot of people not liking it. Sales are low. I just don't see what the long term plan was?
