As a long time Nintendo I think it would be super cool if we could have all the 3rd party support with all Nintendo platforms, so I don't even need to consider getting a system from Sony (as I would never ever get anything from MS).
On the other hand, I am starting to believe that Nintendo's current policy towards 3rd parties is doing more damage than good. Case in point, the 3DS lineup since it was released. Aside from the two Mario games last year, which looked more like damage control than anything else, Nintendo releases these days are fewer and farther between than usual. And it seems they plan to keep doing that with the Wii U.
So IMHO I would prefer to get more Nintendo titles even if that means fewer 3rd party titles.
Ad to be honest I don't think their plan is going to work anyway. The portable market is quickly changing, especially in NA, so I just don't see western developers committing to the 3DS. And at the same time, I just don't see western developers committing to the Wii U either, as for them it is always easier to keep releasing the same games with enhanced graphic on more powerful hardware than investing the time to come up with anything really creative for the game pad. IMHO if Nintendo really wanted better 3rd party support with their next gen console, then they should have come with a more powerful hardware.
