1.5 billion in advertising for windows 8 fails to do the trick

I was reading an article that basically every other Windows OS is a flop or a practice version for a the next release. For instance, 7 is a very popular version of Windows but it's predecessor, Vista, kind of sucked. Before that, XP was a very popular and successful OS (I still miss it), but its predecessor, 2000, was not so good. So maybe Windows 8 is just a preview of something better in another 2 or so years.
