Could be for a worthy cause, i haven't looked into it. Although i've noticed a less-worthy version of this happening a lot to people upon whom tragedy has struck, where they'll fund-raise for money they don't need (like a child struck and killed by a drunk driver in my hometown, and the family got all kinds of money, but the driver's insurance would pay out the death benefit, so why does the family need money?)
