I think they all are the same and hate each other when the next console or game does better than they own.

I get that way towards Sony where they do better or do well enough to warrant the praise over Nintendo and Microsoft. I also do it for Nintendo and Microsoft, when a game I really want from their platform does well, but when it comes to those two, their games usually do well any way.

I personally think Sony fans are the worst of them all though. You get a lot of them hyping a title like no other, but the sales of the title don't match all the praise. I visit a lot of forums on the web and they all seem to be the same. I buy most of Sony's First party titles and I don't hype a game, I know I won't buy. I also buy games from other platforms, so I can hate or praise a game the right way. So, I don't know where I fit.

See, usually people aren't hyping a game because of potential sales, but rather because the game itself looks great. I don't see a problem with hyping games that then go on to sell less than multiple millions.

People hype a game to get other people excited for the game, movie or anything of that nature. That is what a hype man/women does, get people motivated to do something. When you see people hyping something up you expect that item or whatever it is, to be something amazing or do well. If it doesn't do well, then that hype was for no reason. I will talk about the Last of Us and God of War like nothing else, because I know they will do well. I will talk about every Nintendo First Party Franchise, because they are usually of the same name and will do well. Microsoft is on, one hand, one sided and on the other only care for shooters and that why only shooters really sell very well on their platforms. Times have changed so, my comment will be wrong.

Why back something, that you don't think or know won't do well? I personally think Sony gamers make better judgements than Microsoft gamers, but Microsoft gamers know when and how to place their hype for something. Nintendo gamers are in a league of their own and only Nintendo can keep them in check.
