Do you think it buying a console at launch is good or bad

I didn't before this gen, but starting with the 360 I've always found an excuse.

360 -> I got an HD ready tv, must have an HD console to go with it.
PS3 -> I already have 6 blu-ray movies waiting to be watched.
Wii -> I already bought Zelda TP, need the system to play it on.
WiiU -> Jeez this gen is lasting a long time, need something new now.

However now I'm full out of excuses if another console launches next year. There must be some pretty convincing launch games to step in right away, especially with the hardware track record of 360 and PS3.
Who am I kidding, the only way I won't get both on launch is if they both launch at the same time. 1080p is the next excuse.
