how am I being limited or narrow? the point I was trying to make is that you shouldn't use religious arguments in soemthing that isn't a religious debate, and explained in 8 steps why they have no place outside of church. It's all very scientific. Based on your asserion that "Science needs faith", I'd posit that you don't really 'get' science or the scientific method. |
Wait, so your point is just that religious people should not use something like the Bible to justify other arguments? Your OP didn't give that impression at all. A lot of it felt like the classic "religion is annoying and illogical" rant. Part of the blame is on me as the reader, I suppose.
And, while I may or may not get science, I'll make the rather bold claim that I do more or less get the scientific method. I'm not sure if I can properly explain it right now, but the general philosophical "everything is subjective and relative" idea supercedes empiricism as a whole. If you really want, I'll expand on this further, but I suspect I won't do a great job of getting my point across.
Mind you, when I say that "science needs faith", I mean that believing that any scientific result is objectively true requires faith. Science in general obviously doesn't need much faith. When you start saying that you're talking about the "truth", however, then you need faith, no matter what you're doing.
