Microsoft does realize that they need to be at least $100-$200 LESS then the Apple IPads for their Surface to have any chance of selling right? Nexus & Kindle Fire HD are already less they the Apple IPads and are selling very well. You can bring a barely good tablet to market at a much higher price and expect consumers to run out and get it.

You are right and i will quote " The surface will be termed flop within a couple of months "

Microsoft strategy is something else.. same as Google.

Seperating the OEMs and if you look at the three big companies - Apple - iPad , Microsoft - Surface , Google - Nexus .

Only Apple among these has their motive to generate profits from the devices and that is why they sell at a good margin of profit and generate brand value that there devices generate good resale value .. all effort of their is to sell devices .

Microsoft and Google depend on OEMs .. so their motives with their devices is not to make their products commercially successful.. they just want to generate buzz around their products .. Surface is creating buzz for Hybrid tablets , Nexus devices generate buzz for their updates, quality and price value ( which transfers to Android buzz).. they dont want good resale value or else.. To achieve this they implement their own techniques - > Microsoft - Overpriced Devices , Google - Limited supply of Nexus products.

Microsoft and Google products are just to create hype - > Products that are expected to be successful will only be released by OEMs.

I still want a surface.. how often you get a microsoft hardware :)
