I will probably get laughed at for this bold statement, but yes ZombiU is my game of the year. At the end of the day its all about personal taste, and this game is right up my street. Yes it has had lukewarm reviews from sections of the gaming press, and been a tad overhyped perhaps, but to hell with that i love it.
It is a true survival horror, the best since the early Resident evil games, and the dark and dingy theme of the game creates a great atmosphere. I love the fact that you are very cautious, treading carefully so you dont make the wrong move and be ready for that surprise Zombie attack. It is also got a few decent scares in the games, and gives an aura of panic on a few occasions, add this to the lovely interface and use of the gamepad this has been one of the most satisfying games i have played in a long time.
I didnt make this decision lightly, my top 3 candidates for my personal game of the year were between this, Resident Evil Revelations and Hitman Absolution, but ZombiU has been such a breath of fresh air for me thus getting the 2012 Zippy game of the year award.
