Hope you realize A lot of people cant run PC games that smoothly or consistently. Anyways it is superior on PC but people will also need a PC with pretty good RAM and processing power

I can run Minecraft on my 6 year old laptop :/ (albeit not at max settings).

ehhh.  Smoothly?  I cant see that working, I wuld think it would have a lot of frame rate issues.  I may be wrong.  Is it a gaming notebook by any chance?  I know my notebook which is also 6 years old cant run it.  

But yeah Minecraft 360 i've heard is a pretty good alternative but if your computer can run it definitely get the computer version because you can reskin your characters, mods, and the world is much bigger.
