I once said that New Super Mario Bros 2 would cannibalize Super Mario 3D Land's sales, causing it to end at 8-10 million.
Luckily though, I am glad I was wrong.
3D Land seems to hang on extremely well, and it deserves the sales. It will be a fierce battle between Mario Kart 7 and 3D Land. I don't think 3D Land will outsell Mario 64 (12m on N64) as the best selling 3D Mario, so sales will slow sooner than those of Mario Kart 7. I see Mario Kart passing 15m, so it's legs will be a little longer. Therefore I think Mario Kart 7 will make before 3D Land does, but only barely.
New Super Mario Bros. will be the third, but it will a while after. I think, at the end, it will end up higher than 3D Land though, both in the same range as Mario Kart like they are on DS. Animal Crossing seems to be about as big today than it was on DS, so that one will be fourth, but won't go very far over 10m. The other three of today's top sellers don't stand a chance though. Monster Hunter, Nintendogs and Zelda Ocarina of Time (sadly) won't get much higher.
