Definitely not delusional. When Gears was first being hyped back in 2006 it was either being hyped as the Biggest game since Halo or the Halo Killer by Mucrosoft themselves. When you look at the numbers for Halo and Gears though, you find that none of the Gears games really sold at anywhere near Halo levels.
Sales of Halo games on Xbox 360:
Halo 3 Year Released: 2007 Games Sold: 11.67 Million
Halo: Reach Year Released: 2010 Games Sold: 9.97 Million
Halo 4 Year Released: 2012 Games Sold: 5.52 Million
Sales of Gears games on 360:
Gears of War -- Year Released: 2006 -- Games Sold: 5.98M
Gears of War 2 -- Year Released: 2008 -- Games Sold: 6.56 Million
Gears of War 3 -- Year Released: 2011 -- Games Sold: 5.67M
In comparison to sales of the Halo games, the Gears games pale in comparison as a matter of fact none of the Gears games have even hit a respectable 8 Million Units sold.
As far as the sales of games in the "Uncharted" series go:
Uncharted -- Year Released 2007 -- Games Sold 4.44 Million
Uncharted 2 -- Year Released 2009 -- Games Sold: 5.97 Million
Uncharted 3 -- Year Released 2011 -- Games Sold 5.25 Milllion
Taking into account the difference in consoles sold this gen between Sony and Microsoft, the number of Uncharted games sold can certainly be said to be neck and neck with the number of Gears games sold. And since the PS3 will pass the 360 in total sales at some point during the next two years, it's quite possible that the sales of games in the Uncharted series will surpass the number of games sold in the Gears series.
