I think the problem is that Sony fans are Sony fans for the console and ALL the games it produces. Nintendo fans buy Nintendo fans for the Nintendo franchises, and so when a Nintendo game comes around that is a bunch of Nintendo characters fighting it out, of course they gobble it up. Sony fans really don't care about many of the franchises, they care about the system as a whole.
