Would be a genius move. Sony needs a strong mascot presence, in this case, Sonic. Taking Sonic games away from MS and Ninty would go a long way securing Sony an even better exclusive lineup.
Yakuza is also strong in Japan, where Sony needs help and keeping it exclusive is key. Other franchises such as Phantasy Star Online, Virtua Fighter, Sakura Taisen, all are strong in Japan.
Sega has good classics but lately they are making mostly bad games... Now imagine giving the IPs to Sony and have their studios develop for it? A Golden Axe hack and slash developed by Santa Monica, or a Streets of Rage by Naughy Dog, for example. Would be crazy.
