I think is simple, most people at launch only have the money to spent in 2 (max 3) games. Without including the Nintendo Land bundle people will go with these choices: SMBU, ZombiU and one other third game. It doesn't help that most launch games are ports but I think there are to many tittles for launch (second in history I believe), regardless of the ports.

I'm taking a wild guess here, but maybe there's a little saturation in the quantity of launch games, thus the reason why the games have sold so little. I could be dead wrong in this though, it just a guess.

This is important. Short-run, people don't have money for more than a few games at launch. Long-run, launch games maybe tend to do better than others (see: Red Steel vs Red Steel 2), due to the fact that the console exists but few enough games to fill it out are there.

Edit: also true because i have NSMBU, Nintendoland, and Ninja Gaiden already, and will be getting Batman for christmas. For a guy who usually only gets one game a month (and has Link to the Past and KOTOR II backed up) that's a lot.

You're both absolutely correct. This isn't difficult to see. I had the money to get the Deluxe system and two games on launch day. It's a Nintendo console, so I HAD to get NSMBU, then had the choice of which 3rd party game to get. I was choosing between ZombiU, Mass Effect 3, AC3 and BLOPS2, happened to choose BLOPS2. People need to understand that the 3rd party attach rate takes a back seat to NSMBU and is further divided among several good games, so that will bring down the attach rate numbers for the individual games. Since there's literally no userbase at launch (duh), you're not going to see huge sales like on other consoles. ZombiU obviously took the cake among 3rd parties because it's not a port, and I hear it's very good. I have no doubt that without ZombiU, BLOPS2 would have had a SIGNIFICANTLY higher attach rate. On top of all that, a lot of buyers probably only have the cash for one game at launch! BLOPS2 will have good legs, no doubt about it.

I'm amazed how quickly people make judgements around here, yeesh!
