Personally, I'd say both if you have the financial wherewithal. I see them as complements. They're both going in different directions and I don't see much overlap with respect to software titles. However, if I had to choose I'd go with the Vita based on my preferences and for reasons already discussed in the backlog.

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS
