Good read.
I hope Nintendo looks closely at what every other major online based platform is doing. Google, Apple, Amazon, MS, etc... they all have the capability to have your ID tied to multiple devices for sharing of digital content.
Considering Nintendo has at least two platforms at any given time, (home and portable consoles) there is no reason you can't have NNIDs shared across these systems so long as both can functionally run the content. This is especially important with VC content to me.
I want to be able to buy my kids a 3DS and have them access my VC purchases that are available to the 3DS.... and like-wise for digital games purchased on 3DS being playable on WiiU (after all it has a dual screen approach now).
