I realize the 3ds (which has been out longer) has more games. But why are devs going full steam ahead on the vita which is struggling to sell anything. But it seems they are not touching the successful 3ds with a ten foot pole.

3rd parties are starting to realize (at least Namco is) that they are the ones that can make the vita viable, so to counter act slow western 3DS and upcoming Wii U game sales, they are going to make an effort to make the vita more competative than what it is currently in japan, im my opinion.  3rd parties cant make nintendo handheld consoles successful and they are more likely to have their game skipped over for Nintendo's games (except the games that can withstand their own, like monster hunter and dragon warrior), so look for more vita titles from 3rd parties next year.

As for the question at hand late december/january is the normally thetime companies give festivles and shows to announce games for the first quarter and you are seeing that with some of the lesser known 3rd parties.

So Namco is feeling altruistic and wants to make the Vita thrive?  Sorry, trainwreck, this just sound ludicrous.  The premise isn't even true, it's just spurge's own perception based on message board banter.  The 3DS gets far more support than the Vita.

Im not arguing about the 3DS getting more support than the Vita, im stating that vita (in Japan) will get more support as a fallback from lackluster sales from the west.  Namco is the only one so far, sega and konami to a lesser extent.  Capcom and Square Enix  both have vendettas aganist Sony at the moment so their support is going to waver and no i dont think its far fetched at all to think that way.
