I am a Nintendo fan, and I'm a video game fan. If if you don't enjoy the classics of a medium then I don't know what to tell you. It's important to understand where video games come from, and to understand that there are some universal qualities that bestow a game with greatness. The same is true for all media. A true understanding and appreciation of modern music would start with Elvis, the Everly Brothers, Muddy Waters, Buddy Holly, etc. A true understanding and appreciation of modern movies would begin with The Birth of a Nation, Metropolis, It Happened One Night, Citizen Kane, etc. A true understanding and appreciation of literature would begin with Goethe, Shakespeare, Milton, Twain, Bronte, Hawthorne, etc. I'm sorry, but if you cannot appreciate and enjoy the many different games, genres, and experiences I listed, then you are missing out on a whole lot. I invite you to disagree with me with some facts, figures, and theories of your own. Or you could just dismiss my points and evaluations because I am a "Nintendo fan." |
Oh but I do enjoy classic games. Just not those nintendo games, I guess it could be expanded to include 95% of japanese games.
What are you saying? Movies/music aren't for you, if you don't like those movies/music you listed? Wow man, you are really something else. Thank you for your concern, but I am very happy enjoying the games I like.
You give your opinion and invite me to disagree with facts and figures. I give you 2 facts.
N64 sold like 70m less than PS1.
Gamecube sold like 130m less than PS2.
If those nintendo games are such great classics that video games aren't for you if you don't like them, then how on earth those awesome nintendo consoles sold so few units? Everyone who plays games should love them, right? Everyone would be buying nintendo consoles if that were the case, which is obviously is not. Ohh, what is that?
Now that I think about it, it actually makes perfect sense. If someone does not like microsoft franchises, maybe video games are not the right medium for him.
