it comes down to your opinion of the art style which in this case doesn't reflect what the vast majority are saying

beyond that as cgi said most hd games do not try to achieve photo realism, games out this year like halo 4, borderlands 2, dishonored etc and even upcoming games like for example, bioshock infinite,  god of war ascension, gears judgement etc all have a unique artstyle

so i can't agree with the point the op is trying to push because he seems to wrongly believe in general hd games strive to achieve realism

Well, for one he didn't say HD games, he said games that employ photorealism, and listed Uncharted, CoD, Battlefield.

His idea runs off the hypothesis that, though they have unique styles, they contain humanoids and that would inevitably lead to the uncanny valley dilemma. Not that I agree with him, as you can see from my posts I have a different PoV, but I think you're looking at it wrong.

the presense of humanoinds doesn't lead to the uncanny valley but how they are treated with respect to art direction is what may lead to the uncanny valley or avoid it

once developers continue to treat humanoids as they have with respect to art styles by giving characters unique art styles there will be no issue

there has been no evidence to suggest yet that devs will change their current strategy and try to do away with the unique art styles they give their game characters whether they be humanoid or not so i think the concern is unfounded
