That is Google's stated long-term goal. Not sure how long that is out, but they said they are moving that way. It only took them a year to merge the two Android branches for phone and tablets into Android 4. Maybe by Android 6 it will all be one OS.

So they're the anti-Microsoft, whose latest motto is "one OS for every device!"
