how many people who have actually played uncharted or gears do you see complaining about this issue?

...you're the first person i've seen

I played both, and I can tell you I wasn't liking the Gears visuals at all, it gave me an Uncanny Valley experience (it repulsed me). The style didn't do it for me. Uncharted on the other hand, loved the visuals.

The life in these "robots" is what solves the uncanny valley effect, and imho the style of themes like Gears and such don't do it for me, and I'd assume so for many others. For something to be organic, it needs to resonate with us. Clichés simply don't work.

it comes down to your opinion of the art style which in this case doesn't reflect what the vast majority are saying

beyond that as cgi said most hd games do not try to achieve photo realism, games out this year like halo 4, borderlands 2, dishonored etc and even upcoming games like for example, bioshock infinite,  god of war ascension, gears judgement etc all have a unique artstyle

so i can't agree with the point the op is trying to push because he seems to wrongly believe in general hd games strive to achieve realism

I updated the OP to further my point. check it out!!
